The Evolution

We went BIG in 2013 as The Neal Blaisdell Arena became the new home of The Showdown and this was the first year we opened up the Individual Competition to those outside of the State of Hawaii. Big names such as 2010 CrossFit Games champion, Kristen Clever came down to wow the island crowd while Ben Alderman and Jamie Hagiya claimed their crown as 2013 Showdown champs. On the Team competition, after 52 teams battled it out, "CrossFit 808 - E's Angels" reigned supreme for the 3rd straight year.

The event raised a staggering $28,955 for Operation Homefront Hawaii. By far our biggest amount!

In 2012, we decided to do it again, this time a little bigger and a whole lot better. The location, St. Louis School in Honolulu. With the outdoor elements, top-notch rig courtesy of Total Fitness USA and the rubberized track, all athletes were in for brutal test of overall fitness over the course of four events.

In the end, Elyse Umeda came out the top dog in the Individual Competition, while CrossFit 808 made it a repeat in the Team Competition. More importantly, we raised over $15,000 for Operation Homefront Hawaii!

In 2011, Hawaii VA Loans decided to raise money to support Operation Homefront Hawaii, a non-profit that supports families of deployed service members as well as Hawaii's Wounded Warriors. At the same time, we knew Hawaii was itching for a CrossFit why not combine the two? That's what we did and On October 2nd, 2011, 8 CrossFit Affiliates and 5 of the Island's elite CrossFitters came together for the first ever Hawaii CrossFit Affiliate Challenge - titled "The Showdown for Operation Homefront".
